Biography

Janet Chun Siu-chun went to work for John Woo after graduation, taking up continuity on The Killers (1989) and Bullet in the Head (1990), doubling as scriptwriter for the latter. She then served as assistant director and writer on Once a Thief (1991) and as writer and costume designer on The Hard Boiled (1992). She had worked on dozens of films, including Lee Rock (1991), C’est La Vie, Mon Ch�ri (1993), A Chinese Odyssey (1994), Armageddon (1997) and 2000 A. D. (2000), performing duties as varied as assistant director, writer, continuity and costume. Together with Chan Hing-kai and Amy Chin, Chun formed Icon Pictures in 2000, serving as executive producer on Jiang Hu: The Triad Zone (2000), Born Wild (2001) and La Brassiere (2001) and as associate producer on Naked Ambition (2002) and Mighty Baby (2002). She also served as assistant director on several films, including The Myth (2004), Twin Effect II (2004), Odd Couple (2005) and CJ7 (2006). In 2007, Chun started directing while also getting more involved with scriptwriting. After writing Simply Actors (2007), she codirected with Chan Hing-kai La Lingerie (2008), Poker King (2009), La Comedie Humaine (2010), All’s Well End’s Well 2011 (2011) and All’s Well End’s Well 2012 (2012). She co-directed The Four (2012) and its sequel The Four II (2013) with Gordon Chan, and a segment of Love More HK (2011) with Chapman To. Her solo directorial effort is The Jade and the Pearl (2010).
